Le Chen Miiya Hotel

The service was amazing. The staff helped with all our bags, and the woman at the front desk was so nice and helpful. My friend, daughter and I rented two rooms and loved the price. The rooms were clean and there was a nice pool too. I'd definitely stay again.

An affordable, clean and decent place to stay. It seems geared toward Chinese guests: the TV remote, channels and room service menu were all in Chinese. Around the pool and in the elevator, the cigarette smell was strong enough that you might need two or three masks. My experience was okay overall.

We booked through Expedia and used its messages to arrange airport transport and a ride to our next destination several days ahead. Calling didn't work well because the staff's English or Mandarin wasn't easy to communicate with. A tuk tuk around town costs $1-2. At check-in, we had to leave a $100 cash deposit, which was returned when we checked out. The Chinese woman at reception was honest and nice. Our room was well furnished, with thoughtfully chosen cover pillows. The shower had grooved marble over another marble layer so water could drain, and a drying line for clothes. It was dry when we visited, and clothes left there overnight dried well. Each room includes toothbrushes, two bottles of water, a hair dryer and other amenities. I looked for possible camera openings and couldn't find any; the place felt wholesome. The toilet seat seemed to be the wrong size for the base. There was no fridge. Someone had smoked in our room before we arrived, and the furniture still smelled. They'd opened the windows to air it out, which let mosquitoes in. There were lots of old mosquito splatter marks on the wallpaper. I suggest bringing two large bottles of water up, since tap water isn't recommended for drinking or brushing teeth. I was told local bottled water was okay, and we haven't had diarrhea from it. For extra reassurance, Dasani, the Coca-Cola brand with the green label, is an option; Evian isn't necessary.

The rooms were very nice and the price decent. It may not be in the most touristy part of town.
