The Harbor Lights Palace

The big, deep swimming pool was the one thing I liked. We booked one room for four adults through Agoda at a good price, $44, but the management felt old and irresponsible. There was no water in the toilet or shower, no slippers, no sofa in front of the TV, and two huge cockroaches. Breakfast starts at 8 am, too late for us, so we couldn’t try it that morning. I was here on a business trip. If this had been a holiday, I would have been very angry about my bad choice. I hope management becomes more diligent so future guests are satisfied and the business can do well. Bye-bye.

We rented three rooms for four of us and stayed three nights. Everyone agreed we’d come back. The rooms were large and clean, the staff friendly, and the balconies had wide water views. There’s a big pool among the gardens, and motorbikes are available for $5.00 a day, which made getting to the beaches and shops easy.

We only lasted eleven hours before moving on to the city. We were there because a boat trip to ko rongh leaves from the city, but I can’t recommend this hotel or city to anyone. The owners seemed not to want us there, and the room was filthy. There was mold in a few spots and it smelled, while the floor was covered in dust and gravel, with dirty spungy shoes left in the room. We’d booked a smoke-free room, but the man showing it to us came in with a cigarette, and later we found cigarettebutts in the balcony ashtray. The pool was unusable, with no pump and water so dirty it had turned dark green. The balcony furniture was reeeealy dirty, and the room safe didn’t work. I can’t complain enough. Don’t trust the good reviews, they’re either bought or made up by the owners. The place and the city as a whole are truly awful.

The neighborhood is all under construction, so it’s noisy and dirty, and Victory beach is covered in trash. The rooms are old and dirty too, while the pool looks run down. I’d never stay here again.
