Itsandra Beach Hotel & Resort

My room wasn’t ready, and even after I showed them the confirmation they’d emailed, they accused me of not having a reservation. I’d emailed the day before about an airport transfer and got no reply. At the airport there was no Wi-Fi, so I had to accept a ride from a stranger who charged me $30 for a 20-minute trip. That’s also what the hotel charges for its transfer, which felt like theft. The room was filthy, with yellow stains on the sheets and mold all over the walls. The hotel is an hour’s walk from town, the service was terrible, and the AC didn’t work. All that for $165 a night. Never again.

Spacious, clean rooms with big beds, a striking modern design, and friendly staff. The food was tasty, and the fresh juices were lovely too. One of the best hotels in Comoros Island, and a great place to stay when visiting Moroni in Comoros Island.

The beachside setting and garden with a sea view are lovely. The hotel itself looks tired, though, and badly needs redecorating and better lighting. Rooms are sparse, with paper-thin walls, and the pool has been empty for many months. The food is below average across the board. Reception staff didn’t seem very interested in guests, although the rest of the staff were polite and helpful.

There was construction noise all day, with no mention of it on the website or in booking emails. The hotel also had no gym or pool, despite those being listed online. When I complained, they said they’d get back to me, but never did. Later they closed for a private event and wouldn’t serve hotel guests dinner. I’d come to Comoros for a relaxing beach vacation, but the staff were unhelpful and unresponsive. Management got defensive when I raised the problems. He said he didn’t care about guests or negative reviews because he planned to demolish the hotel the following year.
