Sugar Bay Club Suites & Hotel

My wife and I liked Sugar Bay Suites so much on our first visit that we came back for four months. That first stay was ten days in Jan 2025. This time we rented a two-bedroom cottage with a kitchenette, stocked with a fridge, stove, microwave, toaster, coffee machine, kettle, dishes, cutlery, and a few kitchen gadgets. The rooms are very nice, clean, and well equipped, including a microwave, coffee machine, and kettle. You can rent a place with or without a washer and dryer. We chose without, but washers and dryers are available on site for a small fee. The beds are comfortable, housekeeping comes twice a week, and all the staff are friendly and helpful. There are two pools, cleaned daily, and the grounds are well kept. A small grocery store is an 8-9 minute walk away, with many good restaurants nearby. We’ll return next year.

The location is good, with a nice walk to the capital and along the beach, and the other staff were friendly. But my first impression was of a closed-down Pontins, with various buildings being renovated. We paid a lot for a seafront two-bedroom villa that was very run down, with rusty appliances and cupboards and doors that didn’t fit properly. The beach is rough, swimming isn’t recommended, and there are no chairs on it. One receptionist never smiles and is always on the phone. Maybe she’s a bit depressed working here.

For a work event, I had a great stay at Sugar Bay Club in Frigate Bay. It was quiet and relaxing, and worked perfectly for work. My room was clean and comfortable, and housekeeping came daily with fresh towels. There’s no room service, but the staff were welcoming and the on-site convenience store was handy. With plenty of restaurants nearby, it was easy to find meals.

What a lovely hotel. The staff are amazing, and the location is great. Some upgrades were going on while I was there on 6th September 25, but don’t let that put you off, you can barely hear it. I’d definitely go again.
