Andong Hotel

It seems like an older hotel, but the facilities don’t feel that old. It’s right in the city center by the food alley, which made exploring nice. Andong Jjimdak was a five-minute walk away, so I left the car parked and walked there to eat. The staff were friendly, and the place was clean~^^

The cold noodles at Okryugwan on the first floor weren’t very good. I was also left feeling uneasy about how my soju glass was handled. I picked it up at the traditional liquor festival that morning, set it on the stand by the hotel TV, and went out. When I came back, the room had been cleaned and the glass was gone. At the front desk, they said guests sometimes leave things behind, so the cleaning staff must have cleared it away, and asked me to wait. I couldn’t believe they’d throw away a glass I’d received or bought, especially with all my luggage still in the room. After about 20 or 30 minutes, I got it back, but I can’t shake the feeling they were trying to take it.

The hotel feels a bit dated and dark, though the rooms are quite decent and the service is pleasant.

I’d stayed here on every trip to Andong, but this visit was disappointing. I knew the facilities were old, but the cleaning was poor: there was hair on the floor and a toothbrush left in the shower by a previous guest. The toilet smelled foul and was uncomfortable to use, and both the bidet lid and toilet paper lid were broken. The kids wanted to use the bathtub, but first they had to spend about 10 minutes cleaning it. Next time I’m in Andong, I’ll look at other places to stay.
