There’s a trampoline, a foot volleyball court, and even a karaoke room, which was nice. The owner was friendly, and Batgae Beach is close by. Kkotji Beach is nearby too, and you can get fresh sashimi from Bangpo Fisheries. The rooms are somewhat old, but clean, and the bedding was tidy. I’d like to come back.

We arrived at Marimo Pension on August 19, 2023, for a vacation with friends and our families. From check-in, there was a moldy smell. It wasn’t a rotten stench, but the two rooms downstairs were almost impossible to stay in, and the second floor was only a little better. The smell was still there and left everyone feeling awful, mentally and physically. We paid the accommodation fee and expected the place to be cleaned and aired out before the 3 PM check-in. If there was a smell that bad, common sense would be to tell guests and delay check-in or cancel the booking. We shouldn’t have had to deal with it. Early the next morning, my friend’s child was asleep on the second floor when a centipede bit them. They had trouble breathing, so they called 119 and went to the emergency room. After that, the child couldn’t sleep and seemed traumatized. Even when we said goodbye on the way home, the slightest sound of footsteps startled them. The adults feel truly sorry we held our gathering there. I caught the centipede myself. It was enormous, at least 15 cm, and even hitting it didn’t kill it. It was terrifying, even for an adult. Why was such a huge red-headed centipede inside an accommodation? How run-down must the building be for one to come in from outside? Is this really a place that gets cleaned and maintained regularly? I keep thinking, what if my child had slept in the loft, or if my friend’s child hadn’t been bitten and it had reached my family instead? Just imagining it makes me dizzy. Who will deal with the distress of the guests who couldn’t sleep afterward? Things went wrong from the start, and I still get chills thinking about the place. The next day, the management office was empty, and neither the owner nor the manager answered when I called. An accommodation should have an emergency contact system in place. The service was terrible, and in my more than 40 years, I’ve never encountered a place with such poor facility and safety management. If you’re reading this, stop taking guests for now, repair and maintain the property, do a full safety inspection, and stay there yourself. Reopen only after you’ve decided it’s safe to operate.

The place looked pretty, and the facilities were decent. I liked having plenty of kitchen utensils and supplies. After a long time, I picked this place for a trip to Anmyeondo, and the room was warm enough that I slept well. The beach is only about two minutes away, so an evening walk there was lovely.

The wooden building is a little old, but it seemed clean and looked after. The owners were friendly too, and I had a great stay.
