H AVENUE HOTEL GWANGAN

I picked this hotel because I wanted a beachfront view and hoped to watch the drone show from the property. From the viewing spot beside our ninth floor room, we were able to watch comfortably. It was an excellent choice for that.

Getting to public transport meant a ten minute walk over both uphill and downhill stretches, which felt like an adventure with luggage. We booked a sea view room, but it was extremely small. With suitcases inside there was hardly room to walk, and you had to shuffle sideways like a crab. The balcony was huge, and I'd have preferred that space to go toward the room. There was no bed frame, just a tatami setup with steps, so stepping down from bed meant landing straight on staircase steps. They didn't service the room daily, and towels were changed only on request.

The view through the big windows is lovely, but the soundproofing is poor. At night, wind against the metal terrace cladding carried a rumbling noise into the room. It sounded like the sky was farting, or like workers were drilling a couple of floors up. The bathroom fan in our room was loud too, and got worse during a shower until it had a vibrating drill sound. It stopped once we switched it off after showering, but showering with that noise was unpleasant. Maybe the metal surfaces bounce sound around. The wind noise kept going through the night and was really awful. If you're a light sleeper, you may want to avoid this hotel.

Mrs. Nami Suk took great care of me and my friends, and her service made the stay much better. The rooms were clean and the location is prime, with the beach literally 20 ft away and tourist attractions nearby. Finding the entrance was a little tricky since it's inside a multi-purpose building. We'd definitely visit H avenue again.
