Avani Central Busan

The room was very comfortable, the shower was great, and breakfast was delicious, with plenty of choice and cooks preparing dishes fresh in front of you. But our last morning left a bad impression. We had to leave at 7 to catch a flight, just when breakfast was due to open. Three days earlier, we’d asked politely if we could come in ten minutes early to grab food or take something with us. The answer was no. We also asked if that day’s rather expensive breakfast could be refunded, and were told no again. The exchange felt mechanical, with no flexibility or real effort to help. For a four star hotel, that was disappointing. A hotel should help take some stress out of a trip, and this interaction did the opposite. I wouldn’t recommend it.

We had a great view from the 34th floor, and the room was roomy, clean, and had a comfy bed. The price for our three nights was reasonable, and it was quiet. The subway is about a five minute walk away, while BIFC mall is nearby too, with lots of cafes and restaurants where we found good, inexpensive food. A great hotel in the Finance District.

Getting around Busan was easy from here, and the staff were pleasant and welcoming. The rooms are standard but clean and well kept. For an affordable four star hotel, everything else was great. My one change would be to provide disposable slippers instead of reusable ones.

The road noise was the biggest problem. We were on a floor in the 20s and could still hear traffic clearly all the time. The toilet was loud too, and the flushing sound went on for a couple of minutes, so using it at night risked waking the other person. We stayed three nights with my wife. The modern room was nice, the staff were kind and helpful, and there’s a convenience store right beside the hotel. The price felt fair. The view included a large area that was basically a dump, which took away some of the excitement, even though that isn’t the hotel’s fault. A train station is very close, but attractions were farther away than we’d expected. We also weren’t keen on the bathroom being behind a window, though we knew about it when booking.
