Hotel Smith

We stayed here for our first two nights in South Korea, and the dust was noticeable before we even got through the main entrance. The door was covered in it, and we kept sneezing. Inside, the box holding the reusable slippers was dusty too, though I forgot to take a photo. We wanted hot water because it was cold, but the kettle was disgusting: dust on the lid and spout, a badly rusted bottom, a urine-like smell inside, and mold. I was shocked. Then a cockroach showed up on the vanity table. I got rid of it, but the table was dusty as well, and I wiped it several times, feeling completely disillusioned. We'd already booked and couldn't cancel, so we stayed anyway. Our room faced the railway tracks, and even with three windows the noise came through. I wouldn't recommend booking for a long stay.

There's a phone charging cable in the room, which is thoughtfully provided. A full-length mirror would make it even better.

Gupo Market is right behind the hotel, with fresh fruit and tasty fish cakes, and there's a GS Fresh supermarket about a ten-minute walk away. The hotel has 11 floors, with reception and breakfast on the second. You can use the washers and dryers for free. It's quite convenient, and reception staff deal with room problems promptly.

I came near my friend's place because of a late check-in, and since I had to return to Deokcheon the next day, I decided to stay here. It's beside Gupo Market. The taxi fare to Gwangalli was 20,000 won more than the motel price, so staying made sense. I expected a standard room but got one with a PC. The computer was pretty good, with two mice and a comfortable chair. I even took a picture of the chair because I want one for home, lol. The bed was comfortable, and the room and bathroom were clean. Since I checked in late, I guess they'd had plenty of time to clean. I didn't have breakfast, but 50,000 won with breakfast included? For a Saturday, that felt like great value. I'm really satisfied with the price, computer, and breakfast.
