Inside Busan Hostel

One of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed in, hands down. I hope the owner has a long, happy life and every success.

The included breakfast was nice, and the whole hostel was kept very clean. Our host was friendly and full of suggestions for things to do in Busan. The rooms felt bright and airy, too. It’s close to Busan Station, so getting around is easy, though the neighborhood isn’t really a party or student area if that’s what you’re after. The upper floor has some awkward stairs, so anyone with mobility issues should choose a ground floor room. The beds are on the firm side and the blankets felt thin. Traveling alone, I’d also miss having curtains for privacy. From a Western perspective, the bathrooms felt cramped and the shower heads were awkwardly placed. Still, it’s a great place to stay.

The place was comfortable, and I thought the house had plenty of space. The owner was very considerate. For a backpacker’s price, it felt like a completely different kind of stay. I’d love to come back.

I’ve treated Inside hostels as a second home in South Korea since my first visit, and this year I got to visit Busan for the first time and stay among the first guests at INSIDE Busan. It’s brand new, with distinctive architecture and facilities that feel clean and well cared for. The common area’s little mezzanine, with bean bags, was my favorite spot for reading or playing the guitar. Guests can use the guitar and kazoos, and there are cute flowers in the garden too. It all makes for a lovely house. Every room has its own bathroom, and each dorm guest gets a private locker. Busan Station is nearby, handy for arriving by KTX or local train. The neighborhood is quiet in the evenings. Nampo-dong, with the fish market, Gukjae market, and Busan tower, is about a 20-minute walk away. Haeundae beach is an hour away, while another beach is 20 minutes by public transport and beautiful Gwangalli beach is 30 minutes by bus. Jiyeon, the owner, is helpful and happy to talk with guests about travel and different cultures. I’d definitely recommend this hostel if you want a cozy, family-like atmosphere.
