The host was so friendly that staying at Silk Road felt almost like being at a friend's place. It was basic but clean, and I had a very pleasant stay. Finding the entrance takes a little effort. Stay near the northwest intersection and look for the narrow stairway. It's a bit of a walk from the train station, though manageable. There's no elevator. I stayed in a bunk in a mixed room. The square locker was smaller than a carry-on but bigger than a personal item, with a key for its built-in lock. On the main floor, one bathroom served two rooms. I didn't check the second floor. The bathroom combines the toilet and shower. There's a living room with a table and couch, towels are provided, and there's an outlet by the bunk. The bunks don't have curtains, and breakfast isn't included. You don't have to set up or pack away the bedding. There is a terrace, but I didn't have time to see it.

Kim made our short stay feel like time spent with a friend. He was a genuinely interesting host and helped us in every way he could. His local food suggestions took us to authentic places around Yaengdo that we probably wouldn't have dared to enter or known how to find on our own. Silk Road is a great base for trying local food and avoiding tourist traps, while still being a short walk over the bridge to Nampo metro station and the rest of the city. My one regret is that I didn't have more time in Busan, at Silk Road, and with Kim.

We felt like guests here, not just another bed to fill. The team shared plenty of tips, and we noticed several people extending their stays. It's great value, and we'd happily recommend Silk Road Hostel. It's become one of our recent favorites. There are only a few rooms, so you soon recognize the other guests. The place feels like a family home, and it's safe, quiet, and clean, with spacious dorms and kitchen amenities. We loved the location too. It's an easy walk across the bridge to the shopping district, Lotte Mart, the subway, Busan Tower, and the markets we enjoyed most. Public transport also makes Gamcheon village, Taejongdae, and Haeundae Beach easy to reach. The hostel opened in 2018, and the staff are wonderful.

Kim found me a spare mattress on the floor when I arrived without a booking and the hostel was sold out. The owners were really nice and spoke perfect English. They also gave me good suggestions for local food. I liked staying just outside the tourist center, while still being close enough to walk there.

Kim, the owner, is such a kind and helpful person. I loved the whole place, from the rooms, kitchen, and rooftop to the location, service, staff, and atmosphere. Even the small details were superb. Enjoy your stay! :)
