The oceanfront view was amazing, and the facilities seemed generally new. The ondol heated-floor option instead of beds was unusual, and the restaurants in the building were decent. The pool looked nice, but we couldn’t use it because of a high-wave warning. I’d take off two points for the front desk’s responsiveness, a few issues with the amenities, the tight hallways, and the lack of instructions about self-service breakfast. The refrigerator door in the room also didn’t open properly.

The room seemed clean, perhaps because it had recently been remodeled. But getting into the lobby elevator was unpleasant every time, as it seemed not to be maintained at all. They only gave me one room key, and you have to insert it to turn on the electricity. When I asked for a second key, they wanted a 20,000 won deposit. I had no cash on me, so I had to go all the way to a convenience store to get some.

I’m from Busan and came all this way, but the noise made it impossible to sleep. They ignored the guests who came to rest quietly and kept running a rooftop party and selling drinks until the early hours. The pounding went on until 1am and was so stressful I could barely stand it. I’d taken summer vacation to get some peace, but instead I left more stressed and angry.

The duplex turned out even better than I expected. Every room looks out over the ocean, and being right at the edge of Songjeong Beach keeps the place quiet.
