Urban Groove Hotel

The concierge was kind, and our room was comfortable and clean. It also had an electric wardrobe, which was really great. There’s a beautiful public area on the top floor for guests, and we felt relaxed spending time there.

Urban Groove is newly opened, in Jan 25, and sits in a quieter area away from the busy, noisy beaches. You can walk to Jeonpo, with plenty of shops, food options, and subway access. The rooms are very spacious, comfortable, and quiet, and the hotel is beautifully finished. The bathroom setup is a bit different from a traditional Western one: the sink and vanity are in the main room, with the large bath and shower area acting more like a wet room, and the toilet is separate with a bidet. The floor is heated and can be adjusted or switched off. You can also control the TV, lights with several settings, and air conditioning from the TV remote. The window has three parts, a screen for airflow, the window itself, and a sliding blackout panel. The staff were all lovely and very friendly. There was a language barrier, but they worked hard to make sure we had what we needed. The amenities were nice too. The laundry room was great, and you can buy detergent at reception. One packet handles a full load or 2-3 small loads. The rooftop was amazing, with a self-service area for guests.

The only downside was the recycling stations around the hotel, which can make the area look a bit dirty. Otherwise, we loved it. The room was a good size, clean bathtub, and Netflix. There’s free laundry on the 2/F, plus a rooftop pool and resting area on the top floor. We stayed on 3/F and heard very little street noise. The subway is a five minute walk away.

The rooftop was my favorite part. You can make yourself a cup of tea and relax up there, and the instant peach and lemon teas were pretty good. Urban Groove Hotel itself is fairly new, with spacious rooms and a huge bathtub. The location is really convenient too. Beomnagol and Jeonpo stations are both within walking distance, and Seomyeon district is about 15 minutes away on foot, with plenty of shops.
