Gaon Resort

We stayed the night before an early morning trip to my family's cemetery in Buan. My husband and I found the facilities clean and sufficient for two people, and we rested well. Each room also got a breakfast basket with two croissants, an orange juice, and hot coffee. Someone said there wasn't a hairdryer, but it's in the drawer beside the bed.

We checked in easily using the password sent for unmanned self-check-in. I got a low weekend price with a Coupang discount coupon, and for a spontaneous one-night couples' trip, the value was great. The hotel is right in front of Byeonsan Beach. We could watch YouTube on the smart TV, and the induction cooktop and rice cooker looked enough to make ramen. There's a clam kalguksu place, a chicken restaurant, and a supermarket just across from the hotel. Breakfast was a simple basket from the first-floor restaurant, with coffee in a thermos, a store-bought orange juice, and two pastries per room. The biggest plus was how warm the room stayed on a freezing day. The water pressure was strong and the hot water came through well. I brought my bath bag in straight from the car and showered like I was at a public bath. The main annoyance was having no shower booth. Water splashed all over the toilet, so I had to wipe it down before using it. A partitioned shower would have fixed that. The biting wind and snowstorm meant we only got a quick look at the beach and couldn't explore. We drove ten minutes to Gyeokpo Fisheries Center for sashimi and seafood, then came back to rest. Takeout was available for anyone wanting a drink, but my husband had one while I drove back. Even with the storm outside, the warm room kept us comfortable and we slept warmly. On the way back we stopped in Saemangeum, Gunsan, and Jeonju, and the trip turned into a full-on food tour even though we hadn't planned much. I'd come again.

We had a great rest here. The accommodations were clean and nice, and the restrooms and showers were clean too. The staff were friendly, and the sea is right in front with a great view. You can even catch razor clams. Best resort on the Byeonsan Peninsula!

We came to Gaon Resort by chance and I was very happy with the room condition and cleanliness. Even on the first floor, the interior couldn't be seen from outside with the lights on in the middle of the night, which had been a concern. The owner and his wife were incredibly kind. I was touched by the care that went into the breakfast service, more than by its taste. Great value for money. I didn't use the BBQ area at the back, but it was clean, and the people who were using it seemed happy with it.
