Hotel International

At Hotel International Changwon, I found comfortable rooms, a central location, and plenty of dining options. It’s in Changwon’s busy city center, close to attractions, restaurants, and business centers, so it suits both tourists and people in town for meetings or conferences. My room had modern amenities and tasteful decor, with a plush bed and a spacious bathroom. The hotel’s restaurants serve Korean and international food, and the breakfast buffet was a particularly good start to the day. Staff were attentive and available to help with business needs, and there are meeting and conference facilities for events and seminars. After a day out or at work, guests can use the fitness center, get a massage at the spa, or relax in the rooftop garden with its panoramic city views. It’s a comfortable, convenient place to stay while enjoying Changwon.

The sauna downstairs is still great, and the hotel remains quiet and fairly clean. But it’s getting run down, so I’m looking at other options at $160-200 a night. On my latest stay, some room lights didn’t work, and the bathroom renovation choices were poor. The toilet, sink, and tub don’t fit the space well. Using the toilet meant one leg rested against a garbage can for used toilet paper while the other was jammed under the sink. The towel rack puts the towels inside the shower while you’re using it. And the molded tub has a plastic seat shaped for sitting, so showering means standing awkwardly on that instead of a flat, safe tub bottom. The bathroom setup is just frustrating and not very usable. I used to describe this as a nice, convenient hotel with clean, quiet rooms. That’s changed.

The floor had a lot of stains, the table was chipped, and about half the outlets didn’t work. The lamp bulb was dead too, and the AC wasn’t working very well.

The rooms are a decent size and there’s a decent gym. Breakfast is good, though the food may be cold by 8 a.m. There’s also a bar with a Filipino band in the building’s basement.
