The free laundry in the basement was a really useful touch, especially for a longer stay. Sangsangmadang Chuncheon Stay is right by Café Street and only a short walk from the lake. There’s a creative feel throughout, with galleries, design shops, performance spaces, contemporary and indie art, and goods from local artists. A stylish place to stay if you’re into that kind of thing.

The hotel is next to the sports lake area, about three hours from ICN airport. Getting here was easy, either by taxi for less than $3-$4 or bus #16 for w1500. Our room was clean, roomy, and well equipped, and the whole hotel felt fresh and spacious. The staff were always friendly and spoke English. We were glad we chose it as a place to rest, with fresh air, a nice coffee shop ( Dancing coffee) , and a museum nearby.

We liked walking by the lake, and enjoyed the gallery and nearby bakery too. The room was tidy and clean, and the staff were helpful and friendly, speaking English with us. We got there at 2:50pm, but check-in is firmly at 3pm, so they politely asked us to wait. Still, it was a great find and we’d happily stay again.

The room feels a little dated and you can hear some noise through the walls, but for the price it was acceptable. The setting is pleasant, quiet, and comfortable, with very kind staff and what looks like a fairly spacious parking lot. For a family trip to Chuncheon, I’d recommend it as good value.

We stayed in a great family room, and the hotel had all the mod cons, a gym, and a fabulous breakfast. It’s by the lake, though not in the centre, but a taxi costs 7 dollars. The staff were amazing: after I mentioned a few things we wanted to do, they had maps, written directions, and photocopies of the places ready for us the next morning.
