Brown-Dot Hotel Dongchon Amusement Park

Parking was easy thanks to the large lot, and the location near Dongchon Recreational Area is convenient. The rooms are spacious and very clean, and they provide extra towels to help keep things clean.

The room was clean, the parking lot was spacious, and I liked the big bathtub. Breakfast was included, but it was around Toyoko Inn level or worse, so don’t expect much. There were also oddly advertised tissues in the room, which I didn’t like. Calling it a hotel feels generous, it’s more like a motel. The cleaning service is why I gave it one star. I stayed two nights. Before leaving on the first day, I asked them not to clean the room, but when I got back that evening it had already been cleaned. I figured it was okay and let it go. On checkout day, checkout was at noon. I went to a nearby pool for a quick workout at 9 AM, and they’d cleaned my room before 11, while my luggage was still there. I’ve never seen a hotel clean a room before checkout like that. They’d even changed the sheets before I’d checked out. They threw away receipts I needed to keep and all the water I was drinking. It felt like someone had tidied up my mom’s levee. The cleaner seemed to decide for herself what was trash. I had cash in my bag, but I hadn’t counted it, so I can’t say how much may have been missing. This seems bound to cause problems. The front desk and cleaning staff need to share information better. Of all the hotels, motels, and pensions I’ve stayed at, this was the worst experience.

It was a good, affordable place to stay for a night. The facilities were pretty good, though I’d call it a nice motel more than a hotel. Make sure you check the stay hours when booking.

The room is clean, and they do serve breakfast. The breakfast area felt smaller than I expected, and the food was cup noodles, cereal, toast, and, when I went, stir-fried dumplings and kimchi. It seems like breakfast is there to make the place look more like a hotel. Still, I’ll give them credit, it’s better than motels that don’t serve breakfast. Expect hotel-level food and you’ll be disappointed. Think motel-level and you’ll be satisfied.
