Eldis Regent Hotel

The hotel was clean and tidy, the room was cleaned daily, and there’s a lift. The front desk staff greeted us and all spoke English, which made check-in and check-out easy. It was quiet and close to the cathedral, and good value for the money. There’s also a convenience store and Jazz bar in the hotel. Finding a decent restaurant was tough, though, and good food was quite a walk away. We struggled to find somewhere to sit down for a meal. The train was also a fair distance away. Still, it had what we needed for a good night’s sleep.

I stayed one night in December and would come back. The gym has a city view, and the room was clean, with a big TV and a full set of amenities. Public transport made it easy to reach. Staff were very polite and professional, and I had no complaints. The room ventilation could be better. Paying a small fee to upgrade got us a wonderful city view. Breakfast was much better than what I’ve had at most chain hotels in the United States.

I like the hotel, but its location is the downside. There aren’t good restaurants nearby, and it takes about ten minutes on foot to get to an area with good food. Catching a taxi can also take a while because the street guardrail makes you wait for one. Otherwise, it’s not a bad hotel.

We came for a family reunion and stayed up late, but the renovation noise started around 7:30 the next morning. The banging and drilling from downstairs was so loud it felt like it was right beside us. I called the front desk, and nothing changed. They could have warned us when we checked in. For a four-star hotel, the service was nowhere near that level. Checkout is at noon, but we're leaving early. This is unbelievable.
