Qook Motel

I was passing through and got lucky, as there was one room available. They quoted 60,000 won, while other motels nearby wanted 70,000 to 80,000 won, and this room even had a massage chair. The owner seemed more considerate than the ones at other motels in the area. I’m not sure if Daegu is especially focused on nightlife, but nearby places were almost full by 6 or 7 PM 😓. Some said they couldn’t check me in until after 10 PM because hourly rentals had filled the rooms 😵‍💫.

There were lots of good places to eat close by, plus a market and underground shopping mall to wander around, so it was easy to fill the time. I’d worried the location might feel a bit out of the way, but it was actually handy for downtown and the subway. Haha. The facilities were clean, and the owner was friendly and helpful.

The place is dated, though the price was fair. I’d heard people complain about cigarette smell, but it didn’t bother me. What did concern me was my room on the 6th floor: a structure blocked the windows, so I couldn’t use the escape pods or other emergency equipment. That could make it hard to react in a fire or another emergency.

I came for a vacation, but there wasn’t really a commercial area nearby. The room felt like an ordinary neighborhood motel, nothing especially good, so I wouldn’t rate the place very highly.
