Soho House Hotel

I only chose this place because it was close to the airport. There was a strong mildew smell, and the customer service was poor. The AC wouldn’t work unless it was switched on from the office. There was hair all over the floor. They gave me just one key, and I had to lock the door manually whenever I left the room.

I had a brilliant experience. I knew there was an air base nearby, so that didn’t bother me, and after a few days I barely noticed it.

My flight was cancelled, so I needed somewhere close to Daegu Airport. This motel is close enough to walk to from the airport, and the smallest room cost me 40,000 won. It was clean, and decent for a cheap airport stay. There was no charger in the room, so I borrowed one from the front desk, but it didn’t work very well.

I was looking for somewhere near the airport for an early flight, then found out that checking in before 6 PM costs an extra 10,000 won. There’s plenty of parking and the room is spacious, so in that respect it’s decent. But I couldn’t sleep until 2 AM because of the airplane noise. If you’re a very heavy sleeper, you’d probably be quite satisfied with this motel. I also got bitten by mosquitoes a few times and went down to the front desk. Later I found unscented bug spray in the bathroom, so at least it didn’t smell when sprayed. The soundproofing isn’t good either. I could hear cars through the early morning, and it felt like I’d be awake all night. It’s been a long time since I heard birds singing early in the morning.
