Daejeon Yuseong Manwol Hotel (Hanok)

The loud guests were the biggest problem. People were drinking and making noise late into the night, and it stayed very loud until morning. The windows didn't seem to block sound well. I needed to get to Daejeon urgently. I had planned on Intercity Hotel, but it was full. I'd used Yuseong Hot Spring Hotel on past trips to Yuseong, but heard it had closed and was being replaced by an officetel. Looking around the Yuseong area, I found this place with a Hanok motif and booked it. The location is convenient, along Yuseong Stream and a five-minute walk from both Yuseong Hot Spring Station and the Yuseong Kumho Express Bus Terminal. There was also a sign calling it an excellent accommodation in Yuseong-gu. One Saturday night cost 120,000 won. It used to be motel-level and now has a hotel name; Naver Maps showed 80,000 won for a standard Korean-style room on Saturdays, so 120,000 felt like a big jump. Maybe finding a hotel has gotten harder with Sungsimdang in Daejeon so popular. At check-in I gave my reservation name, got a room number and key, and went upstairs. There was an odd smell, so I asked to change rooms. They said I could, and I moved. It seemed to be a seven-story building with about 7 to 8 similar-sized rooms per floor. The room had a Hanok motif, with an octagonal window-shaped design near the bathroom and a table that looked antique, but it wasn't especially impressive or much of a Hanok vibe. Still, it was fine for sleeping. The floor was warm and the temperature comfortable. Bathroom water pressure was a little weak, though shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were provided. Check-in items included condoms, soap, and a razor. There was a computer in the room, but I didn't use it.
