Daejeon Yuseong Nine

Just so-so.

The room was a VIP one, and the stale cigarette smell was memorable. When I mentioned how strong it was, they handed me an air freshener. The PC was nothing special for movies or games, but the internet speed certainly was. A two hour movie took three hours to watch because of the buffering, and for games I had to settle for StarCraft. There was no tap on the shower head, and the bidet didn’t work. The advertised free breakfast turned out to be snacks and coffee. Thanks to the hotel owner for making my Daejeon trip excitement so “special.”

The person who showed us around was extremely rude. We’d come on a family trip with high hopes, but ended up spending a night in the worst place we’ve ever experienced. The stale cigarette smell hit as soon as I entered and made it hard to breathe. The air conditioner had a strong mold smell, even through the air purifier. I told the front desk, and they gave me one of those air fresheners from an elevator. The towels were so worn and dirty I didn’t want to use them. The shower, whirlpool, and bidet were all broken, and the bathroom walls were covered with mold and grime. The computer wasn’t fast enough for games. They said breakfast was available, so I went downstairs, but the sign only mentioned cereal, bread, and an egg bowl. There was just coffee and a sign saying ramen was for sale instead. I’d definitely booked a special room, and it really was “special”!

The room was fairly clean and the heating worked well, but don’t expect much from breakfast, it was only bread or coffee. We booked a room for up to six people in a space meant for four, and at first had trouble finding the entrance. Check-in wasn’t until 7:00, so leaving our luggage there was difficult.
