Hotel R Gangneung

I came with my child, and they upgraded us to a larger room for free. The hotel interior was really clean and great.

The staff were really friendly, and the amenities were convenient. For a same-day stay I got a room on the third floor, and it was in excellent condition. Location, service, and parking were all great, and the price felt like good value. We had a drink while looking out at the sea from the second floor of the nearby Donghae Sashimi Restaurant, which was lovely.

Inside, the place is clean, and the staff are welcoming. There’s free coffee too. The rooms were clean and the ocean view is great, with the hotel right across from Gangmun Port Beach. I found the comforter a little uncomfortable because the duvet cover and inner comforter are separate. People who like a heavier comforter may prefer it. Everything else was fantastic, and I highly recommend the place.

The owner was friendly, and parking was easy. We stayed two nights, with a great ocean view from the room, probably the best around here. The bed was comfortable and the bedding clean. With the windows shut, soundproofing was good, though hallway noise came through in the mornings. The bathroom had good water pressure, but the sink was small and outside the bathroom, which was a bit inconvenient.
