The bathroom was freezing, and the showerhead's position between the sink and a shelf meant I had to stand sideways to get under the water. There were few spare outlets, and the ones available were across the room from the bed. The room was cold in winter, while the heated mattress blanket seemed to have only two settings, scorching or off. The blankets were stained, and the whole place smelled of cigarettes. There was even a lighter on the table, as if to invite smoking. This was a budget motel in Gangneung, but the place felt poorly thought out. I know you get what you pay for, yet it still seemed overpriced. I doubt I'd stay again.

The owner was thoughtful, and I could feel that in the room. It wasn't large, but I was comfortable there. The place was well organized, the grandmother was kind and warm, and the price was affordable, so I was very satisfied. Parking was the one inconvenience.

The landlady seems good at keeping the place clean, though broken doors don't seem to get much attention. The Okcheon-ro restaurant right next door is apparently a local favorite. (I don't care.)

I came looking for somewhere cheap during peak season after something came up, and was a little worried. But the landlady was kind, and things have been great since she arrived. The room is small but reasonably clean. I was on my own and it suited me just fine haha.
