Breev Gwangju by Lotte Hotel

I hate leaving an average or bad review, but this place annoyed me. The staff were polite, professional, and fine, and the room was a good size. Still, lots of small things seemed overlooked. I don't think the rooms were cleaned thoroughly, and the bed sheet was torn. The cover came off quickly, and the air conditioning was weak. The room could've been more comfortable, but the temperature wouldn't go below 20.5 degrees, which most 4-star hotels do. There was also a strong sweet smell in the hallways. I think it was being used to cover up something else, since I can't see why else they'd use it. I often travel to gwangju and had wanted to try this place, but I won't return.

I slept really well almost every night. The room was quiet, roomy, and very comfortable. I'd booked a round bed room for three days, then a standard twin for six, but when I checked out on the third day, the staff kindly let me keep the same room for the rest of my stay. The room had only basic amenities: a hair dryer, glass shampoo, and shower gel, but no toothbrush or comb. I did have two bottles of room-temperature water and two chilled ones. There's a huge LED TV.

After checking in, I had trouble finding my room because there was no information to guide me.

The hotel's in a good spot, with plenty of restaurants and bars nearby, and the view from my room was good. Breakfast had lots of options too. I stayed in two rooms. The first felt new and was spacious, though its touchscreen control panel was basic rather than especially modern. The second was OK but seemed a little old: the central panel was old and would turn off if moved, and some paint was peeling. Both rooms had a kettle for tea or coffee and a mini fridge. The TV mostly had Korean channels, though a few showed English channels. There wasn't an ironing board.
