Urban Stay

The room was spotless, and having the shower in its own separate area was handy. I checked in at 10 AM during a work trip to Gwangju, after booking through Yanolja because I wanted a quick breakfast. There’s outdoor parking, though I found the business-card-style room key a little unsettling. Breakfast was a salad bar, and I enjoyed the fried eggs and toast with jam.

The staff at the front desk were so friendly, and their Japanese was excellent. My friend’s restaurant is close by too, so I’d stay here again.

The pillows felt a little too tall and weren’t very comfortable. I’d booked because I heard dogs were allowed; that was true only for the larger rooms, with an extra charge. I could accept the fee, but there was hair on the floor and towels, so I wasn’t sure the room had been cleaned very well.

The facilities themselves weren’t bad: there was a bidet, IPTV, a Styler, a computer, a microwave, a coffee pot, and a spa bathtub. But I can’t say I trust how clean any of it was now. ㅋㅋㅋㅋ The bed felt a bit hard, and the room often seemed like it hadn’t been cleaned. I found hair ties, hair, tangles, and dust on the floor. A proper vacuuming would have helped, and I even wondered whether they cleaned at all. The front desk staff acted friendly but were rude. No one explained how to use the room facilities, which was a real hassle. I accidentally pressed checkout and went down to ask about it, and only then did they explain, as if it were my fault. ㅡㅡ Shouldn’t that have been covered when I checked in? If they’re going to be rude, they could at least keep the place clean. ㅡㅡ
