We’d happily stay with Mama again when we return to Gyeongju. She welcomed us with fresh water and a goodie bag filled with persimmons, noodles, drinks, and other snacks, and was so generous and warm. She even offered us a ride into town, helped with our laundry, and taught us how to say “fall colors” for the beautiful changing leaves. She also got coffee for us from La Vie En Rose, which I highly recommend. Billy and his wife are delightful and make everything by hand. The location worked well for us too, with a short walk to the main strip for coffee, restaurants, and tofu alley, and a short walk to the bus stop for tourist attractions. Love it here.

I left behind the frying pan I’d brought, but the owner kindly sent it to me by courier after I asked. It was packed carefully in bubble wrap. I was really touched by that thoughtfulness.

After a day visiting Bulguksa Temple and Cheomseongdae Observatory, I wanted somewhere to rest during my trip to Gyeongju for the Gyeongju Urban Sketch Festa. Maniju Pension turned out to be clean and peaceful, with fresh air, and I slept very soundly. I’m usually sensitive about where I sleep, so I was especially pleased. My husband and I start the day with bread and coffee, and the breakfast felt like a lovely surprise. The carefully made sandwiches and smooth, mild drip coffee really touched me. The owner was thoughtful and warm, too. Since we visit Gyeongju every year, I think this may become our favorite place to stay.

The owner is incredibly friendly. The wooden interior is spacious and clean, and its quaint feel fits right in with the Gyeongju pension village. It made for a lovely place to unwind.

We had a wonderful time in Gyeongju with the family. It’s easy to drive from here to Bomun Tourist Complex and downtown, though getting around by public transport might be difficult.
