Charis Hotel

The duplex rooms at Hotel Charis have a separate living area downstairs and a cozy bedroom upstairs, with kitchen facilities for extra convenience. They’d suit a longer stay or anyone wanting more room, and could work well for families or couples. The hotel also has free Wi-Fi, comfortable beds, and clean, well maintained bathrooms. The rooms are tastefully furnished and feel homely, more like a well appointed home than a hotel room. Hotel Charis has a cozy boutique atmosphere, with friendly, attentive staff who make the stay comfortable and personal. It’s an inviting, charming place in Korea for travelers looking for a more intimate stay, whether for business or leisure.

The AC wasn’t working, and that made for a pretty rough stay. We had to leave the windows cracked, but outside noise made sleep difficult, and with no screens on the windows, mosquitoes filled the room. We complained, so hopefully management will take action. The hotel itself is very basic.

The hotel is clean and conveniently placed, with lots of stores, restaurants, and coffee shops nearby. There’s a bus stop right by the entrance, and the staff are polite. Getting from either entrance to the lobby means taking stairs, so large luggage or a wheelchair could be a problem. Staff didn’t offer to help. There are only two guest lifts, and around 95% of the TV channels are in Korean, with maybe three or four in English.

Home Plus is right across from the hotel, and the bus stop is just a few meters from the entrance. Jakjeon subway station is about 300 meters away. From outside, the building has an impressive tall facade. The room was fairly clean, though it looked cheap, and sound insulation at the entrance wasn’t great, so corridor noise came through. Breakfast had a good selection, but the coffee machine labels were only in Korean. The staff were helpful, polite, and spoke English, and guest WiFi was excellent.
