Avia Hotel Jeju

Nothing was especially good or bad: the room was fine and the bed comfortable. The irritating part came at checkout. If you leave before your flight, there’s no secure place for your bags, so you have to leave them in the lobby. Otherwise, it’s a perfectly acceptable hotel.

There’s plenty to do around here, with lots of places to eat and shop, so the location is a five-star fit if you want to spend time in the city. Parking is available but tight, and a staff member is happy to guide you. Check-in was easy and the staff were friendly. My room was spacious and seemed to have been renovated fairly recently. It was comfortable and clean, with a good bed, clean sheets, a clean bathroom, and working air conditioning. It isn’t luxury, but I was comfortable.

It’s about a ten-minute walk to the shopping street, with lots of restaurants in the area. The room was good, and breakfast had a nice buffet selection. There were universal sockets and complimentary bottled water, but no dispenser for refills. They didn’t provide toothbrush or toothpaste, and I would have liked a floor towel.

The rooms are spacious, but there’s no laundry room in the hotel, and the receptionist couldn’t help when we asked whether he could recommend an outside laundromat. Communication was difficult because his English wasn’t good, and he didn’t seem to understand the question. The service felt poorly trained and lazy. He wasn’t friendly either: I greeted him in Korean, but he just looked at us and checked us in without replying or smiling. We also couldn’t get an iron or floor towels, and there were no robes. Maybe the person was just being lazy when we asked on May 4, 2023. I called again and translated into Korean; the receptionist pretended to type, kept me waiting, then said, “clothes iron is used by hotel guests staying longer”. We were staying for 3 nights. Why is this how a 4-star hotel handles it?
