Hotel Air City Jeju

When I asked politely about checking in early, the man at reception shouted at me and was really rude. Then I got to my room and found no clean towels, while the dirty ones had been left in the bathroom.

The room itself was good, but I was shocked that there were no amenities at all, not even a toothbrush, toothpaste, or hairbrush. There were only two bottles of water in the refrigerator. I’d expected a lot, so I hadn’t brought my own things. My opinion is that they may have done this so guests would buy those items at the convenience store on the first floor, which maybe the owner franchised. Terrible.

I’ve had better service in motels. There was no coffee, tea, or toiletries in the room, and the comforter and curtains were torn. Those things may be luxuries or just cosmetic, but I’d expect better from a hotel of this stature.

This feels more like a 2.5-star hotel. It’s stingy and missing a lot. I don’t know how it got a 4-star grading. The outside looks fine, with its 17 stories, but inside there’s a lot lacking. The room types are marketed in a sneaky way. Deluxe double rooms with balconies show as “sold out,” but they’re apparently sold as 'regular' superior doubles. At check-in, I was told all superior doubles have balconies. The rooms are TINY because the balcony dimensions are included in the room size. I’d avoid booking a 'superior double'. Those rooms face a tall building and have NO view. Try the back side instead, which at least has an open view. There’s no coffee or sofa in the room, no usual complimentary amenities, and most things are for purchase. That alone isn’t a deal breaker, but it’s not what I’d expect from a 4-star hotel. The most annoying thing is the sensor lighting by the entrance and bathroom. It switches on every time you go to the bathroom. If you and your partner never use the bathroom in the middle of the night, you might be fine. I asked the maintenance team to temporarily turn it off during my stay, but they couldn’t. They said the hallways and elevators didn’t need air conditioning because it wasn’t hot enough yet. It was the end of June, and buses and restaurants had their air conditioning on. Housekeeping also asked if it would be okay not to clean the room and just exchange towels. Breakfast wasn’t worth paying much for. The only eggs were scrambled, mixed with some kind of cream sauce, and there was no other protein. Everything else was basic: coffee, milk, rice, soup, and toast. There are cheaper, better options just a few steps outside.
