Aewol Oceanstay

The ocean view from this hotel is spectacular, and I had a great time relaxing there. I stayed during what seemed like the off season, so for the first three weeks of October I nearly had the pool to myself. It's a lovely pool, just 100 meters down some steps from the ocean, and you can borrow or rent little barbecues by the pool. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes within walking distance, a small "7/11" next door, and a larger grocery store less than two kilometers away. Coffee and water are free in the lobby. The hotel is run by a lovely older couple, and I really liked it. My room was big, with a pentry and everything needed to make a meal, plus a big comfortable bed and quiet, effective AC. Shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, and three pairs of slippers were provided, one for the main room, one for the bathroom, and one for the balcony. The staff don't speak English and everything is in Korean, so I got by with a translator app, even to work the AC remote. Rooms are only cleaned every fourth or fifth day. All the light switches, including the bathroom lights, are on a wall in the main room. I couldn't make sense of the warm water schedule, though there was warm water in the morning and after 3pm. I didn't see a shower by the pool. Those small hassles didn't really bother me, and for what I paid, I can't complain.
