Aewol Stay in Jeju

Our family deluxe room had two bedrooms and a living room, with bottled water provided. We asked for extra pillows and got them. On the second day we skipped housekeeping, and staff left more towels, replacement water, and tissues on the door handle, which was a nice surprise. There’s plenty of parking. The hotel is across from the volcanic rock beach, and several cafes and places to eat are within walking distance.

The room is clean, the mattress has a nice firm feel, and there’s good parking. I’m unwinding in our twin ocean-view room with the window open, listening to the waves. It’s a windy November day, but pleasant and not busy. We arrived at 1:30 pm, and Ji-seok Oh at the desk kindly let us check in early. Noraba, known for its seafood ramyeon on Netflix, and the early-opening cafe Eom Jaengi are both only minutes away. There’s plenty for foodies nearby. I took off stars for a few things. There were no foreign power outlets in the room, though the Concierge lent me one for a 10,000 Krw deposit. There weren’t enough places to hang clothes either, just one standing coat rack and no closets or hooks. The shower and drainage were poorly designed, and getting the temperature right was difficult. It was scalding hot most of the time. Every towel was the same size, only big enough to wrap around your head.

It felt as if another woman had been in my room. There were fresh cup rings on the table and long hairs on the shower head. The mosquitoes were incredible too, like sleeping in the Amazon. Quite an experience.

The room was comfortable and the service was great. There weren’t many TV options for English speakers.
