Hanwha Resort Jeju

I liked the rooms, and the quiet natural setting is nice if you’re into golf. Getting around was the hard part. The only way in and out seemed to be by taxi or your own car, which isn’t ideal if you’re here to explore Jeju. I’m not a Korean citizen, so I couldn’t use Kakao Taxi. K.Ride was the only taxi app I could sign up for, but I couldn’t get a ride through it and had to ask the front desk to call one. Since the resort is secluded, food choices are limited, and delivery costs at least 10000 won. There’s a convenience store on site, and, yes, golf. It feels like this resort, which belongs to a conglomerate company, might not be meant for 'outsiders'. I’d planned to stay three nights but left after one and got an Airbnb for the rest of my Jeju stay. If I hadn’t had an issue with the rental car, I would’ve stayed here for the whole trip.

We spent the weekend here as a family, and I’d definitely come back. The facilities were good, though they could use some remodeling. Our accommodation had two rooms, a large room with a kitchen, and a bathroom with a tub. There were enough bedspreads, plus kitchen items like ceramic plates and cups, chopsticks, forks, spoons, and knives. The TV had different channels, and there was a room-service menu for chicken, pizza, and Korean-style raw fish. In the morning, the buffet ran from 7 to 10 am, with Korean and foreign dishes, waffles, breads, tiramisu pastries, cereals, and juices including orange, apple, and tomato. Checkout was at 11 am. Before leaving, my sister rode a bicycle while my brother and I played soccer in the spacious parking lot. The night before, we went down to the L floor for musical performances at the beer bar. There was a playground beside it, but you need cash to play because cards aren’t accepted. I sang karaoke until 1 am in a private area, with no interruptions and nobody watching or listening.

There’s a lake behind the building, and a walk there feels pretty refreshing. The food was good, too. The price is reasonable and the place is quiet. It isn’t really close to downtown Jeju, which is the one drawback, though it’s not far. You can check the distance for yourself.

Getting around at night is difficult unless you rent a car.
