Jeju Beach House

The ocean view was great since it was right outside, and the kitchen was clean. The place is old, though, and the room and bathroom both smelled quite a lot. Luckily it wasn't cold, so I left the windows open.

(Cockroach warning) The view was nice, and I was looking for somewhere cheap, but this stay taught me a lesson. I was supposed to use the room on the right after going up to room 401. The wallpapering was sloppy, and although the owner says they disinfect every day, I have my doubts. Maybe it was just when I was there, but under the bed and in the corner of the wall felt like a den. After eating sashimi, tidying up, and showering, I lay down and a cockroach appeared. I got goosebumps and called the owner, who issued a refund over the phone. I then had to scramble to find a downtown motel and take a taxi there. The whole thing was a mess.

I found this room in a hurry while on Jeju Island. It was spacious and reasonably priced, with room for what looked like more than ten people. The beds and towels were clean, which I appreciated, and for its age it seemed well maintained, though definitely dated. The sea breeze felt wonderful. It reminded me of traveling with friends in my twenties, except this time I was with colleagues.

Having a convenience store on the first floor was handy, and the seaside location meant I could see the ocean from the veranda. What bothered me was the lack of soap and a shower towel in the bathroom, plus no dishcloths in the kitchen. It gave me the impression the owner wasn't checking on things closely.
