Jeju Central City Hotel

I've stayed at the Gangnam sister hotel, and it was wonderful. This Jeju hotel sucks. The rooms are cramped with two queen beds and no space between them. The air conditioning won't go below 20C, but the room is still so hot. The floor smells musty and has stains all over. Housekeeping only comes every 3 days, and there are no outlets near the beds. The list goes on.

The staff were friendly, and I was happy with my four-night stay. The location is central, close to lots of restaurants. The room has a typical older design but was clean, with a bathtub and a toilet bowl warmer. They don't provide toothbrushes or toothpaste, but it's no big issue with two convenience stores across the road.

The location is top-notch, and the room is pretty average. Our tub leaked, which was disappointing, though we were out most of the time so it wasn't a big deal. The TV had Netflix, a nice option for international shows. Breakfast is served on the second floor. Nothing special, but it gets the job done when it's 0 degrees outside. Service can be patchy too. If reception is available when you ask, they'll help get you a cab, but that's not guaranteed. Good location if you're trying to keep costs down, though you get what you pay for.

The room had mold on the ceiling and stains on the walls and appliances, and the mini fridge didn't work. The air conditioning barely cooled, and the shower head wasn't fitted properly, so water sprayed from the spout. It was our first visit to Jeju, and we had booked through a third-party site. The room wasn't nearly as clean as advertised, and our first night was miserable. When we asked for a refund the next day, we were told they could only move us to another room. By then we booked another hotel and told the lobby we'd be back late on the last night of our paid, nonrefundable stay because of the airport location. Twice, people entered while we were still using the room. Maintenance came in while we were asleep because they hadn't been told it was occupied. On the final night, another guest was told the room was vacant, even though we'd said we were coming back. I've never had anything like this happen at any hotel or Airbnb, whatever the price. I've asked three times for some kind of refund and still haven't gotten a reasonable resolution. I'm glad I didn't leave belongings behind in case they were thrown out or taken. I don't usually complain, but this was next level.
