Jeju Palace Hotel

The location is a real plus, with the night market just a five-minute walk to the right. Breakfast was good, and the dining room on the 10th floor has a magnificent view. The room was clean and tidy, and the toilet had an automatic cleaner. The polyester sheets and blanket weren't very comfortable. The hair dryer broke after three seconds, and my friend had a broken one in their room too.

There are plenty of restaurants around, and it's a nice area for walking. The hotel itself looks good, is very clean, and has roomy bedrooms. Paying a few extra thousand won for a sea view is worth it, in my opinion. The front desk spoke English, and the staff were great. They left two full-sized towels and two bottles of water when I arrived, then put a bag with two more hand and bath towels and two more bottles of water on my door the next day. I was too stubborn to figure out the bus system for my two-day stay, so I walked from the airport, which took about 45 minutes. There's no bathtub, which apparently isn't unusual in South Korea, and the bathroom floor gets a bit wet during a shower, but neither was a big deal. Storage is the main downside: there are a few coat hooks and a tall, wide closet, but no shelves or hooks inside it.

The location is great, and the room is fine for the price. But the reception staff were incredibly rude. I was trying to ask about adding another night to my reservation, and we couldn't communicate. They barely spoke English and didn't try to make themselves understood. They handed me the keys and told me not to smoke, and that was it. Not much of a welcome.

Breakfast wasn't brilliant, but it was acceptable. The room was a good size and well kept, with both heating and air-conditioning. For a three-star hotel, the in-room amenities are fine for its class. It's a convenient location and a practical budget option.
