Jeonju Daraeheon Hanok Stay

This is a must-visit if you want to understand the history of the hanok village, going back to 1392. It’s also interesting to learn about its struggles in recent decades and how it has developed into a cultural tourist spot since the 2002 World Cup, which Brazil won 🏆. The village gets 11 million visitors a year. Impressive.

This free museum has lots of information about the city’s history, along with old photographs and illustrations of Jeonju.

A historic Hanok heritage site.

There’s no admission fee. The history museum is set in two small renovated Hanoks, with a permanent exhibition hall and a special exhibition hall. Small events are held in the outdoor courtyard by the entrance. From the small wall with just a nameplate, trees line the way to the exhibition building, making it feel like an extension of a walk through Hanok Village. The exhibition space is very small, with no major attractions, mostly video screens and text. You can get more in-depth information by listening to the staff explain things, but this place is more about learning history than entertainment. The building and walls have a charming, cozy feel, and the clean restrooms are another nice part of visiting Hanok Village.
