Stx Resort

The resort is quite isolated, so it's best to pick up what you need in the nearby town before arriving. There is a convenience store and cafe on site, with chicken and pizza on the menu. The chicken wings were great, but I wouldn't recommend the spicy seasoned chicken. The place is pretty old, yet still a good spot to enjoy with family. It has indoor and outdoor hot spring tubs. Our suite had two rooms, each with two single beds, plus a microwave, highlights and a water purifier.

The pool is probably the main drawback. On busy holidays, it's so packed with kids and families that you can barely move. The verandas could use some cleaning up too. Otherwise, the food is good, the service is nice, and the mountains are beautiful. The rooms, restaurants and cafes all have nice views, and the rooms are comfortable. Food costs a little more, but the portions are good, and given the location, there isn't much choice.

There are plenty of things to do around the grounds, with restaurants, cafes, arcade games and a convenience store, and some really great hiking trails are quite close. Breakfast is a large buffet included in the room price, but even in the more expensive family room, you only get two tickets. Each extra family member has to pay 20000 won, which is annoying. Be aware that a mountain-facing room also faces the event area, so it might get noisy. I mostly liked the hotel. The rooms are spacious and clean, but they're showing their age, with lots of scuffs and stains and a cigarette burn on one sofa cushion. It seems management is having trouble keeping up with the wear and tear.

This was the worst “hotel” imaginable. The fire alarm went off falsely three times overnight, June 28-29, and there was no staff there or response from anyone. Not even an apology. My aunt was in shock, and we had to call 911 ourselves for medical help. I plan to report this to the authorities.
