We stayed in Gujeolcho for three nights and four days. It was one of the detached rooms named after wildflowers, and inside was so clean I could hardly believe the pension had been around about 10 years. I didn't notice any bad smell, which matters to me because a dirty odor puts me off right away. The room has two levels, so the kids had room to run around. The owner said the white chrysanthemums growing among the greenery were Gujeolcho, known for benefits for women, and invited us to pick some for tea. That explained the wildflower names. Out front, more than 90% of the yard is natural grass, and we tried walking barefoot. There's also a small pond and a pool for summer, plus a little swing where we took photos with the mountain behind us. A winter view of the pension was displayed in the room. I imagined the mountains covered in snow and thought a winter visit could be lovely, though the high ceilings in the detached unit did make me wonder if heating would be enough when it gets cold. We went to one Pyeongchang attraction each day. We visited the Baekilhong Festival, Jeongseon 5-Day Market, Byeongbangchi Skywalk and zipline, and Seonam Village. You need to time the festival and market right. The Chuseok crowds were so heavy that I gave up going into the Skywalk. Seonam Village is shaped like the Korean Peninsula, and I had a filling meal at a tadpole hangover soup restaurant. The owner and staff were very kind. They provided plenty of towels and toilet paper each day, which made me feel good. The owner also sold tea made from Gujeolcho they had dried themselves. The aroma was strong, and it was lovely knowing it was homemade. This morning I had an Americano made with Supremo whole beans the owner personally chose while looking out at the view. It felt pretty fancy, lol. Elisha, the female Golden Retriever, quietly lying at my feet was an extra treat. You can imagine the perfect photo, hehe. #EcopiaPension #tip) Reservations required, nearby supermarket, charcoal grill available, shoe throwing, The Rose of Sharon Has Bloomed, Awesome Red Ginseng, 007 bread, Bunny Bunny Carrot Carrot, moderate drinking (absolutely not)

The room was nice and warm, and the owner was kind. It was -17 degrees Celsius when the hot water boiler malfunctioned, so I had to shower in another room.

The separate private rooms meant we could stay without being disturbed. The facilities were average, though, and being right by the river made it cold.

The place was clean and the staff were friendly. I liked having a big lawn, private pension, cafe, swimming pool, and barbecue area.

The morning clouds over the mountain looked lovely and atmospheric. The owner was kind, too.
