Seom Story Pension & Guesthouse

The rooms were spacious and cosy, and the view and location were lovely. We had an awkward moment when the manager shouted at us for sitting on the balcony before curfew, and the showers were a surprise in a bad way. Laundry was free, though, and we still had a fairly good stay.

The hosts were the best part of my stay at Seom Story Pension & Guesthouse. They were genuinely warm and helpful, and their smiles and tips made me feel at home. I left with a lasting impression and would happily return. The place has a rustic, cosy character that suits Jeju. My room wasn't luxurious, but it was spotless and comfortable, with a bed that helped me sleep well after hiking and sightseeing. It felt personal rather than generic. I especially liked how peaceful it was. Having coffee in the morning or resting after exploring gave me a chance to slow down and unwind. It felt like a small sanctuary. It's not a flashy, ultra-modern place, and there aren't all the facilities of a five-star resort. Some travelers may prefer a more modern look or more extensive amenities. For me, the homey comfort and hospitality made up for that. If you want a kind welcome and a place to relax and recharge in Jeju, Seom Story Pension & Guesthouse is worth considering. 4/5.

The location is handy for exploring Seogwipo, and the place was clean. But the washing machine didn't really work, so I wouldn't rely on it for laundry. Breakfast on the nice terrace was free, with tasty eggs, toast, and machine coffee. After 22:30, though, food isn't allowed on the terrace or in the common area. The host calls it “Korean time, my time,” escorts people out, and insists they go to bed. You're expected to be quiet, and he shoos you away. This could suit a couple of quiet days to recharge, or a trip with people you already know. It's not much of a place to meet others since the shared spaces close in the evening and aren't used. I'd say 7/10.

Mr Kim was on duty during my five-night visit, from 31 October to 5 November 2023. He worked hard, was friendly, and helped a lot. The room was clean, had modern conveniences, and was good value, but the standout was the spectacular location and view. There was a generous selection of amenities: free coffee, milk, bread, cheese, eggs, and cereal, plus bathroom supplies like body wash, shampoo, conditioner, facial cleanser, wet wipes, and tissues. Thanks to Mr Kims generosity, I'd definitely stay again and bring my friends and family.
