Third day

We spent nine nights and ten days at Haneulchae, and it felt like being at home. The room was comfortable, and the bedding, towels, and other items were clean and sun-dried. There was plenty of space in the refrigerator, and when the nights got chilly, the heating worked well and kept us warm. The pension is set among tangerine trees, with Seogwipo’s ocean on one side and Hallasan Mountain on the other, its clouds always changing. Sitting under a palm tree at a table, looking over the orchard, enjoying the breeze and coffee, and talking with the warm, kind owners was a real chance to relax. There were some mosquitoes, as you’d expect in nature, but mosquito repellent was provided. Any bites we got outdoors were less bothersome than the ones in downtown Seoul. It’s a bit outside downtown Seogwipo, which worked well for us. We like walking and exploring, and the nearby Citrus Museum was a great fit. With a car, it was easy to get to facilities in Seogwipo City. Kakao Taxi also made family errands easy, with taxis arriving quickly at the pension. For our Hallasan hike via Seongpanak, the parking lot was already full by 5:30 a.m., so we couldn’t take the car, but using Kakao Taxi for the return trip was convenient. We shopped at the nearby Seogwipo Hanaro Mart and 5-day traditional market, where the goods were good quality and reasonably priced. I’ve been to Jeju Island dozens of times and stayed in luxury hotels, regular hotels, condos, and other places, but this is the first place that really gave me rest and relaxation. The view of the ocean and mountain, the peaceful stay with my family, and the owners’ kindness have made this feel like a home on Jeju Island. I’ll treasure the comfort and joy of the trip, and hope to come back. Thank you both.
