Courtyard by Marriott Seoul Botanic Park

That park next door was a lovely escape for a calming walk after a busy workday. I wish I’d had more time to stay. My room was spacious, clean and quiet, with a great bathroom and a comfortable bed. Breakfast had lots of freshly prepared choices, though things were spread out enough to get your steps in. The staff were attentive and professional throughout. I arrived well before check-in, and although the team was busy, they were helpful and professional. They said my room would be ready in two hours, but offered an immediate check-in on a lower floor. I was happy to take it. As a titanium member, I really appreciated the welcome gift, wine, cake, unlimited hot drinks, late checkout, and complimentary breakfast. Absolutely faultless.

Hazel at the front desk made a real difference. She was friendly, professional, and patiently took care of all our questions, helping make the stay great. The room was clean and simple, with plenty of space to open our luggage, and the location was great. I’d definitely come back.

The park right outside is nice. I got in a decent 5km walk there, and I liked having a water filter in the room for refills. But you’re quite far from central Seoul, and the area seems to be developing, with lots of younger people around. This feels like a basic hotel mainly for business trips or visits to nearby offices and exhibitions. The food was horrendous, whether at the 15th-floor restaurant, the one on the first floor, or through room service. Service was poor too. I had the DND sign on, but housekeeping still banged on my door twice. My colleague asked about a Seoul city tour and staff didn’t know anything about it. They also don’t really help with bags, which is a small thing, but not great when you’re traveling alone with all your stuff. And they charge for the slippers, saying it’s a sustainability initiative.

The upkeep is really poor. The gym feels abandoned, with old dusty equipment and no music, just the noise of the machines. The toilet didn’t clean the bowl when flushed, and there wasn’t even a toilet brush. Disgusting.
