The breakfast food is very good, though expensive, and the restaurant has a stunning view over southern Seoul. The system on busy Sundays was frustrating, though: guests were admitted at just two fixed times, and if you arrived between them, they sent you away even when there seemed to be open tables. I was there for a conference, so the location worked okay for me, since I didn’t need to commute downtown regularly. The neighborhood is relatively quiet compared with the rest of Seoul, and there’s a nice hike up a small mountain range just behind the hotel. After nearly a week, I’d grown to like the place and really enjoyed my stay. There are some nice bars and other hidden gems, and I’d come back. It’s an upscale hotel with very good service, but the large rooms are impractical in several ways. There are few light switches, and most lights are controlled from one panel far across the room. Half the bathroom is part of the main room, there are no towel hangers, and the bathtub is too small for bathing, so a proper shower would make more sense. The closet has hangers but no storage for things that can’t be hung, and I could find only one free power socket. I’ve never seen a hotel room use its space so badly.

I loved how peaceful it felt here. With nature on both sides, the resort was cozy enough that I could finally step away from life’s stress, unwind, and relax. It’s a great choice for a weekend break or short vacation, and I’ll be back for another short holiday. Walkerhill sits on the outskirts of Seoul, overlooking the Han River and bordering a wide mountain area, so there’s fresh air and forest scenery too. The breakfast hall looks out over the river, and the food quality was incredible. Every Walkerhill staff member I interacted with was kind and professional, and I was impressed by the quality across the board.

For the price, I think you can find better. The natural setting is nice, but that’s about the only real plus. Staff hospitality felt lacking, and communicating in English was often difficult. Breakfast at Douglas House was a joke, with a limited selection, no hot food, and only hard-boiled eggs. Service options are limited too, since there’s no 24-hour room service. If all you want is a quiet, relaxing getaway and nothing else matters, it might suit you, but I found it overpriced for what you get.

Walkerhill is set among the Hangang River and Achasan Mountain views, with seasonal appeal throughout the year: cherry blossoms in spring, shady green forest in summer, colorful leaves in fall, and crisp snow in winter. It can be a place to experience local culture or get away from a busy city, with an outdoor pool overlooking the Han River, River Park, Forest Park, and Douglas Garden. There’s also a complimentary shuttle every 10 minutes to Gangbyeon Station on Subway Line #2 and Gwangnaru Station on Line #5. Gangnam is about 10 minutes away by taxi or car. The property has 557 rooms and six restaurants serving Korean, Chinese, and Western food, as well as bakery shops with baked goods. It offers a wide range of entertainment, and aims to provide a high-quality stay and service. For events, there are six furnished, multi-purpose convention rooms in different sizes: Vista Hall, Ida, Art Hall, Pine Room, Oak Room, and Grand Hall. Aston House is another special facility. The venues have simultaneous interpretation and modern video, audio, and lighting equipment for family gatherings, weddings, international conferences, and business meetings.

The distance from the center of Seoul actually added to the appeal for me. The shuttle made it easy to get around, while the resort felt like a quiet escape from the city, still connected to Seoul’s energy. I spent time swimming in the beautiful pool, sitting quietly in the library, and enjoying the calm around Forest Park. Each part of my stay added to that sense of wellbeing, and I left with cherished memories and a strong wish to return. It was a real 5/5 experience, and I felt pampered and refreshed from the moment I walked into the elegant lobby. The hotel has a lovely mix of modern luxury and natural calm. My room looked over the Han River, and waking to the shimmer of the water and distant city lights was unforgettable. I’d sit with coffee and look out each morning, feeling peaceful and able to breathe. The room was a comfortable haven, especially the bed, which felt like sleeping on a cloud and was the best hotel bed I’ve experienced. The linens and amenities seemed carefully chosen for relaxation. Service was impeccable: staff were warm, attentive, and seemed to anticipate what I needed. They made me feel valued as a person, not just a guest.
