The Road Minihotel

The Road Minihotel is on the third floor of a corner building, and there’s no stair access, so I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone with mobility concerns. Our room was clean and looked newly renovated, though it was really small for two people and hard to move around with luggage. The ceiling also looked like it had a few water leaks. There’s a shared area with hotel-provided toast and coffee, and you can do laundry during a set time. The bus stop is just a few steps away, which is handy. Central Seoul is farther out, around 45 minutes to an hour to places like dongdaemun, Gwanghwamun and seoul station. There are late-night food options nearby, including a really cheap soup place open 24 hours. Must try! We still had a nice stay and would recommend it if you want to explore the mullae district or take day trips to places like ilsan and suwon, which are nearer than from central Seoul.

We had a great time here in Seoul. The shared spaces were super clean, and I liked the free coffee. Getting up to the roof was fun too. Really nice place to stay!

I booked and paid for a double room through Naver in November, got a confirmation message, and the money was taken from my account. But when I arrived, there was no room, no booking, and no receptionist. I had to call the hotel since nobody was at reception. They said they didn’t have my booking, but they did refund my money.

It was easy to check in, the staff were friendly, and the hotel was very clean and in a great spot for public transport, shops and restaurants. But the stay had several problems. The walls and doors didn’t block sound well, so we heard everything from neighboring rooms and the hallway. Children crying and other guests making noise regularly woke us early. Laundry machines and dryers could be used at any hour. People ran them late at night, even drying shoes, which made more noise. Breakfast was disappointing, with hardly any options beyond cereal and toast, and didn’t feel worth getting up for. The rooms also need proper blackout blinds. Along with the poor soundproofing, the early light made it hard to get a good night’s sleep. It’s clean and well located, but if you’re a light sleeper or care about sleeping well, you may want to stay elsewhere.
