Having a billiards table and a barbecue area gave us something to do, and the little kitchen was handy if we wanted to make food. The bed was comfortable, and the place felt restful for a short getaway. It’s also easy to get around on foot: Sokcho Beach is nearby, and there are several restaurants and convenience stores close by, including Coral 17, a Thai place, an ice cream parlour, and a pasta and pizza restaurant across the street. Staff were friendly, and there’s parking directly below the pension. The only small drawbacks were a problem with the sink pipe and a noisy toilet.

For a trip with the guys, this was more than good enough. The beach is a one-minute walk away, and there are lots of places to eat nearby. The floor was pleasantly warm, and parking was free, though the lot is on the small side. The hot water kept changing, which made it tricky to get the temperature right, and using the barbecue costs another 30,000 won. If I came to Sokcho with my girlfriend, I’d choose somewhere nicer.
