The listing and the actual hotel were completely different. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The lobby felt run-down and was shared with a seafood restaurant and popcorn shop, with unpleasant smells. After checking in, I found the room wasn’t as described either. The old, shabby room smelled like sewage from the toilet, the kitchen sink was rusty, and the towels were torn. Worst of all, it was stuffy, but the front desk said we couldn’t turn on the air conditioner. There was one in the room, but it was unplugged and had no remote. When we told the desk, they said to open the windows. The windows and balcony were dusty, and no air came in. My sons and I were stifling, and we finally decided to cancel because of how inhumanely we were treated. We checked out right away, but they still insisted on charging us MYR 485. The listing didn’t seem genuine.

The caramel popcorn smell is all through the hotel, lol. It’s kind of a must get, and there’s a cafe nearby.

The location is excellent, right beside the express bus terminal and about a 3-minute walk to SokCho beach. Check-in was easy at the machine beside the counter, with several languages available. For the budget price and location, I’d recommend staying. The photos don’t match the actual condition very well. The balcony, entrance, and area beside the bed looked rough because the building is old. The bed and shower room were acceptable, and the other parts were clean enough. The outside of the hotel also looks hard to believe given its age and poor upkeep.

We spent 5 days and 4 nights here and had a very enjoyable stay. Our room on the second floor had no view, while family on the fourth floor had lovely balcony views, so I’d ask for a higher floor. The hotel is old, but it was clean and the area wasn’t noisy. There’s no lobby to wait in, and rooms don’t get daily housekeeping, which was fine for us. The room was spacious, with what I think was a king-size bed, plus a washing machine, microwave, and sink or kitchenette. Our second-floor water pressure was good. They brought fresh, clean (though small) towels, a large bottle of drinking water, and toilet paper every day. The breakfast area had a lovely view, though we didn’t eat there, so I can’t comment on the food. The location was great: Sokcho Express Bus Terminal is across the road, and Sokcho Beach is just down the road. There are 4-5 convenience stores close by and lots of places to eat. Bus stops for the town center, popular sights, and Seoraksan Park are a 5-minute walk away. You can also walk all the way to Abai Village. Honestly, this is probably the best 3-star hotel I’ve booked and stayed at, and I’d recommend it to anyone considering Sokcho.

We weren’t staying at the hotel, but went for breakfast because our own hotel didn’t serve food. The modern, clean restaurant has a lovely view when the weather’s good, and the staff were very polite and welcoming despite speaking little English. The buffet cost 13000 KRW per person, which seemed reasonable since you could go back for more. There were quite a few choices, mostly local dishes and not many Western things like pastries or fruit. It seemed hotel diners had a 45-50 minute sitting, and we think the same applied to us, though it was hard for staff to explain clearly. Still, we didn’t feel rushed.
