Hwaseong Guest House - Hostel

The staff were nice, the room was spacious, and the location was good. But the included breakfast was only one packet of instant noodles per person, like the kind from 7/11, which I don't consider breakfast. I also noticed two small blood stains on the sheets. They appeared to have been washed, so the stains probably hadn't come out.

The facilities are very old, and I had more complaints than I expected even for a cheap place. After checking in with the staff's guidance, someone suddenly opened the door at dawn. He hadn't told me anything, and seemed confused about why I was sleeping there. I was startled and embarrassed, and although I first said sorry for the surprise, I still felt completely dumbfounded. I don't know whether there's a reason cheap places are cheap, but I won't stay here again. Check-out was at 11, which felt ridiculous, so I left at 5 a.m. and caught the first bus. I'd rather pay a little more and book somewhere else. Never use this place.

The guy running the place was really pleasant and helpful, and the whole hostel felt cared for. Even the air smelled fresh. Beds were spotless, you get a fresh towel and a big pot noodle when you arrive, and choosing your own bed is a nice touch. Great location, friendly people, an easy check-in, plus a big kitchen, showers, and a comfortable shared area. It’s all on one floor too. I don’t usually post reviews, but I really rate this place. 🤞🏼🤍

A straightforward guesthouse with both private rooms and dorms. It’s near the fortress, chicken street, and workshop street. Just note that it’s up on the second floor and there’s no elevator.
