Benikea Hotel Mountain & Ocean Yangyang

We got in late and only stayed to sleep. We picked it because it had two double beds for our family of four. The sea view was nice, but the road right outside was noisy with cars. The beds were firm and I slept well without back pain, though the pillows were too soft and flat for me. The facilities felt a little worn, probably because they’re old. The staff were friendly.

The outside looked clean, but inside it was old, shabby, dim, and smelled musty. I booked two rooms, one for two people and one for three, for 230,000 won. They felt more like 20,000 won motel rooms, and the photos didn’t match what I found. The road runs right in front, which felt dangerous with kids. Basic things like shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and toothbrushes cost extra if you need them. After booking, I found plenty of cheaper, better places. I regret choosing this one and won’t come back. Of all the Sokcho Naksan pensions I’ve booked, this was the worst.

I used to come here often. This time, when I checked in for three people, they said they’d give us a bigger room because there were only three employees. It turned out to be the same room. There was no breakfast, and no shampoo or soap, just skincare products and lotion. The kettle was dirty, with dust and something moldy on it, so I left it unused.

The bus stop right outside makes it easy to get to Naksansa Temple, Seoraksan Mountain, Daepo Port, Sokcho Beach, Yeongrang Lake, the fish market, and other places. Haeparang-gil Road is close by, too. We had a lovely ocean view over Jeongam Beach, and although the room is compact, the large balcony makes it feel comfortable. The property was clean, and the cleaning staff were friendly and helpful.
