Shilla Stay Yeosu Expo Station

The first two nights of my planned three-night stay were fine. On the last night, though, they put a huge group of kids and young adults on the same floor. I called the front desk and asked them to speak to the group, but two hours later it was still really noisy. I left at 10 PM, and ended up outside alone as a young woman in Korea. This is supposed to be a four-star hotel for business travelers, so I don't understand why they have such large groups of kids there when noise complaints seem predictable. Thanks a lot, Shilla.

The breakfast buffet was good, the Wi-Fi worked well, and the staff were lovely. I could see this hotel being quite nice, but its strict policies made the stay frustrating. We booked two rooms for our family and kids, then paid extra to upgrade ours to a grand suite because the original room felt small. The suite was better, though it cost more. We got there at 2:30 PM to check in and found a crowded lobby with a ticket system. We were number 47. The staff stayed behind the desks without serving anyone until a few minutes before 3, so the wait was frustrating. We mainly chose the hotel for the pool, but it only opened in three daily sessions, with one- or two-hour closures in between. I wasn't even allowed to sit outside and relax while the chairs were empty, and more than one session cost extra. I wouldn't come back unless the hotel brought its standards up to international levels.

The hotel acknowledged the problem after several of us complained, but the manager seemed unable or unwilling to get the loud, apparently intoxicated guests under control. They were yelling, playing loud music, and sounded like they were partying well into the early morning. I had to ask for a room change myself, even though the hotel should have offered one proactively. There was no compensation, and the lack of follow-through was unacceptable. I had an extremely disappointing stay, and if you want a restful night, I'd look elsewhere.

The location made it easy to get around Yeosu, and having a GS25 right next door was handy for drinks, snacks, alcohol, or other travel supplies. I also appreciated the washing machines and dryers. My room was quiet and comfortable, with a soft bed and four pillows on each bed. The rooms are big, and I liked that the lobby is on a separate floor, the 6th. I had a really enjoyable stay.
