Yeosu Expo Motel

For a one-night stay, this is decent value. The room was small but cozy, and generally clean. A refrigerator, hairdryer, and kettle were provided. There's no bathtub, though you get both handheld and overhead showerheads. Maybe something was wrong with the room, but water from the bathroom sink just dripped back without a pipe leading down, so my feet got completely wet. Finding the entrance could be tricky: look for the EXPO Motel sign shining between two buildings in the distance, or you might get lost if you follow the map without spotting it. At prices around 30,000 won, I wasn't expecting top quality, and I was satisfied.

The heated floor seemed fine, and aside from the issues, the room was okay. Getting the power on meant carefully inserting the key card. Noise carried badly: I could hear people walking and talking in the hallway, and other guests slamming doors made my door rattle. Light sleepers probably won't enjoy it. There was something like a boiler sticking up from the floor near the entrance, so be careful when sleeping. I also struggled in the morning because there was only cold water, and I can't wash in cold water.

The facilities were decent, and the 15-minute walk to the pojangmacha street was fine for me, though that's subjective. But when I tried to check in at 6:30 PM, the owner was at the sauna and didn't answer the phone. A young woman beside me was getting annoyed too. After waiting so long, I felt this was no way to treat a customer, and I was furious.

The room hadn't been cleaned when I went in, but it was clean overall and the floor was warm, so I slept well. Getting a room was confusing. No one was at the counter, though I could hear people talking; nobody came out even after I rang several times, so I called the listed number. The owner said he had other business and would send someone, and then someone appeared after the talking stopped. I wasn't sure if rooms were available. The owner said the room would be cleaned, and when I explained it was for a few hours, he asked how long I'd be staying since they don't have standard motel hours. He quoted 30,000 to 40,000 won, and we negotiated a set price.
